Extrutech Plastics has been awarded a Nine Million Dollar
Contract by the U.S. Department of Energy through Fermi Lab.
Manitowoc, WI – June 29, 2010 – Extrutech Plastics, Inc., a
custom plastic extruder has been awarded a three year contract, by Fermi Lab of
Batavia, IL; to extrude and supply approximately 25,000 plastic panels. These
panels will be incorporated into the construction of the new NOvA Neutrino
Detector being built near Ash River, MN.
The NOvA Project is funded through and operated by Fermi Lab and Argonne
National Lab, both located near Chicago, IL.
The goal of the NOvA Project is to aid physicist in the
study and behavior of neutrinos, the smallest of all known particles. These
neutrinos will pass through the Extrutech plastic panels, which will be filled

will send a signal to monitoring computers at the Fermi Lab facility for study.
This particle research will continue until about 2022.
